Equilibrum!

I am inspired by Mindfulness and meditative processes, which I showcase in my work.  The collection is entitled ‘Equilibrium’ referring to a state of rest or balance. It consists of seven pieces, each one being linked to an energy point of the body. I have explored what these Chakra points have meant within my own life and used abstract symbology and shapes to present a self-portrait.

I use meditation techniques to draw Mandalas in glass powder in a kiln which is then fired to a high temperature to allow the glass to melt and form into an organic shape. These pieces then become the decoration within a glass ball.  These ‘Orbs’ represent a feeling of wholeness and completeness while their clear smooth surface suggests a sense of clarity within the mind.

The glass bases and backgrounds tell a story about my own personal life, I have delved deep into the history of my body and mind to be able to present my own story within the glass.
